When it comes to vaping hemp flower, there are a large variety of devices to choose from. There might be some variance in the bells and whistles each device provides, but they all essentially work the same way. They use electricity to heat up the hemp flower enough to release the other cannabinoids contained in the plant, but not so high that it actually incinerates anything to the point of producing smoke. This still gives users access to the fastest-acting and most bioavailable method (inhalation) of getting the cannabinoids (CBD, CBG, etc) into the body, while still being easier on the throat and lungs than smoking it.
Once you have your dry herb vaporizer, you can either use a grinder to break up your hemp flower of choice, or you can break it apart by hand into smaller pieces. Your vaporizer will have a chamber for you to load your hemp into, then depending on your device, you can manually set it to a specific temperature, or your device may have a few different pre-selected temps to choose from. Typically, the temperatures will range from 325-400℉. The higher the temperature, the more concentrated the vapor produced will be, but also warmer and potentially more harsh on the throat and lungs as you are getting closer to the temperature of combustion. With lower temps, the vapor produced will not be as concentrated, but it will be cooler and easier on your throat and lungs. Once you have selected your temperature settings, the device will go through a “warm up” phase as it begins heating up to the selected temperature. Once that temperature is reached, it maintains that temperature for a certain amount of time, typically ~3 minutes, and this is when you are able to start vaping it. After the time for the session is completed, the device will cool down. If you feel like you need more, you can start another session. Before starting another session, you will want to check on the condition of the hemp flower you loaded into the chamber. You may want to stir it around, or if it is looking mostly brown and wasn’t producing much vapor compared to how it was in a previous session, you may want to replace it with some fresh hemp flower.
Keep in mind, you always have to assume that hemp flower will have some trace amounts of THC in it, as it cannot be removed while still maintaining the form of a “flower”. So if you are subject to any form of drug testing, it would be best to avoid using hemp flower in any capacity.
